What began as a one-day event in 1941 has grown into a nationwide program. The American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and to promote healthy smiles for kids.
Forming good oral health habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps to get children off to a good start of a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. The ADA has free online resources that are perfect for teachers, parents, and dental professionals—including oral health presentations, ideas for the classroom, and activity sheets.
The 2018 NCDHM campaign slogan is “Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste and clean between your teeth for a healthy smile”. The ADA recommends children brush for two minutes, two times a day.
